Improving Education in Latin America: Worldfund Celebrates Innovators in Education at 15th Anniversary Gala

Founded in New York in 2002, Worldfund transforms public schools communities in Mexico and Brazil by training teachers and principals in educational excellence, equipping them for state-of-the art education in science, math, technology and English. Over the last 15 years, Worldfund has trained over 9,200 teachers and principals and has improved the education of more than 5.3 million students.
Celebrating its 15 years of service to Latin American education by celebrating others committed to the same, Worldfund is proud to announce it will bestow its 2018 Education Leadership Award on two individuals for their tireless work to transform education in their own countries.
Worldfund’s Annual Gala gathers over 350 top executives and philanthropists from the United States and Latin America, alongside donors and supporters, to highlight needs and celebrate the achievements of education transformation for underserved populations in Latin America. Previous honorees have included: Carlos Slim, José Antonio Fernández Carbajal, and Roberto Civita, among others.

Blanca Treviño |President & CEO of Softtek, Mexico
Blanca Treviño has been leading Softtek as President and CEO since 2000. Under her leadership, Softtek has become the leading information technology services company in Latin America. Ms. Treviño is an advisor of the Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Monterrey and also contributes to their program ‘Lideres del Mañana’, which helps high school graduates get a full tuition scholarship to study at ITESM. Softtek has created ‘Codellege’, a program that teaches coding, entrepreneurship, English and human development to the underserved youth so they can achieve job inclusion in the IT industry. Softtek also teams-up with robotics teams to promote Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) methodology in public schools.
Jair Ribeiro da Silva Neto | CEO Banco Indusval & Founder Parceiros da Educação, Brazil
Jair Ribeiro is a shareholder and CEO of BI&P (Banco Indusval and Partners) since 2011, a commercial and investment bank in Brazil, as well as partner and executive director of Sertrading S.A., a large Brazilian import-export company. He has been President of Banco Patrimônio and Chase Manhattan Brasil, Executive Director of J.P. Morgan Chase (NY) and CEO of CPM Braxis. In 2004, Mr. Ribeiro founded and became the President of Parceiros da Educação, a nonprofit that structures and monitors partnerships between the business and education communities, today encompassing more than 300 public schools. Mr. Ribeiro is also the founder of Casa do Saber (House of Knowledge), a successful cultural and educational centers in Brazil.
