OPEN Named Finalist for Partnership for a Healthier America's Catalyst for Change Awards
DALLAS (PRWEB) June 01, 2018 -- OPEN®, the Online Physical Education Network launched by US Games, a division of BSN SPORTS with a mission to improve the effectiveness of physical education for every child, announced that it has been named a finalist by the Partnership for a Healthier America’s (“PHA”) third annual Catalyst for Change Awards. The awards consist of two categories – PHA Partner of the Year Award and PHA Impact Award that, “recognize partners and community leaders who exemplify positive change by creating solutions to end the childhood obesity crisis and make the healthy choice the easy choice for busy parents and families.”
OPEN® is a finalist for the PHA Impact Award. This award recognizes an individual or group for their contribution to create change and encourage a healthier future in their community. OPEN’s eligibility in this respect is based on providing rigorous, outcome-based curriculum tools to every physical education teacher at no cost, and the curriculum targets SHAPE America’s National Standards & Grade-Level Outcomes.
Aaron Hart, OPEN® Executive Director said, “This is a tremendous honor for our entire organization and all of our partners. We also applaud our fellow finalists and believe that ultimate success will be measured by collective efforts to improve the lives of young people across the country.”
Launched in the Spring of 2015, OPEN® has grown to have more than 35,000 teachers as registered members of OPENPhysEd.org, allowing the program to reach more than 18,000,000 students. Mr. Hart added that, “With the support of US Games and BSN SPORTS we’ve created a movement that is reshaping the way physical education teachers receive curriculum and ongoing professional development. Our mission was to democratize access to outcomes-based resources for our nation’s physical education community. I’m grateful to be recognized on a national stage for the work that we’ve done. What’s even more exciting is that we are really just getting started.”
“The tremendous work by Aaron Hart and the OPEN team represents our dedication to our customers and community at large,” commented Terry Babilla, BSN SPORTS President. “I’m extremely proud of this team’s focus on helping teachers and administrators around the world with free resources to enhance their physical education programs. We are extremely honored to be named a finalist.”
