Awards, Accolades, and a Round of Enthusiastic Applause Given to Seven Exemplary Companies at 2018 ASAP Alliance Excellence Awards
CANTON, Mass. (PRWEB) June 01, 2018 -- The Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (ASAP), an international association dedicated to the leadership and practice of alliance management, partnering, and business collaboration, announced the winners of the highly regarded Alliance Excellence Awards. The awards ceremony was a highlight at ASAP’s March 2018 Global Alliance Summit, “Propelling Partnering for the On-Demand World: New Perspectives + Proven Practices for Collaborative Business,” in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. ASAP’s Summit is the largest international management education opportunity of its kind, where participants are provided access to the latest cutting-edge alliance management practices and trends in the profession.
“The Alliance Excellence Awards exemplify what the association and its members most value,” said Michael Leonetti, CSAP and CEO of ASAP. “The awards are given to companies that have gone the extra mile to improve alliance practices, innovate beyond their peers, contribute significantly to the alliance community, and exhibit corporate social responsibility, among other accomplishments. This year’s committee had a difficult time deciding on the winners because of the outstanding pool of finalists.”
Alliance Excellence Awards Committee Chair Norma Watenpaugh, CSAP, ASAP Advisory Board member and CEO of Phoenix Consulting Group, noted the 20th anniversary celebration of ASAP, and the lengthy history of the awards, which were started in 2001. Watenpaugh joined the committee as a judge 15 years ago in 2003. The purpose of all four awards revolves around “showing members what good is,” she summarized.
What originally started as the presentation of a single award in one lone category 17 years ago evolved into four category awards as ASAP matured and grew. This year, seven of nine finalists were recipients of the following: The Alliance Program Excellence Award; Individual Alliance Excellence Award, Innovative Best Alliance Practice Award; Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
Pharmaceutical company Amgen received accolades and the prestigious Alliance Program Excellence Award for creating an alliance program that accentuates clear objectives and alignment of strategic value drivers through a partnership; optimizing effective oversight of an alliance portfolio; consistent, effective best practice execution on alliance kickoffs and playbooks. The award is presented to an organization that instills consistent implementation and management of alliance portfolios and demonstrates alliance management success over time.
The ASAP Awards Committee lauded pharmaceutical partners MSD and Julphar for the unique creation of the DUNES alliance—seven therapeutic areas for six countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region—presenting them with the esteemed Individual Alliance Excellence Award. The award is presented to one alliance that has excelled in planning, implementation, and results, between two or more organizations, for successfully management practices, tools, and methodologies. The DUNES alliance was formed in a particularly challenging part of the world for business development, where “MSD-Julphar opened new doors,” remarked Watenpaugh.
Biopharmaceutical companies Medimmune and Shire both received the Innovative Best Alliance Practice Award “for their big-picture view in their portfolio of alliances.” The award is given to companies that create alliance management tools, functions, methods, or processes that have had an immediate and powerful impact on the organization and/or discipline of alliance management. The tools or processes must show results, such as savings, increased speed, revenue growth, and/or ease of management. Medimmune was awarded for an alliance information management system and dashboard-reporting tool that enables widespread visibility of alliance performance in near real time, including consolidation of alliance data that provides visibility across organization. Shire received an award for introducing a new best practice for partner crisis to manage stakeholders through a crisis situation. Originally created to help navigate mergers, the tool was found useful for several other applications.
Cisco Systems and Dimension Data received the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility Award for collaboration on 25 projects focused on creating social good, which resulted in a record year for their successful 25-year partnership. Created in celebration of the long-term relationship, the projects exemplified the spirit of the award, which is presented to companies that demonstrate a profound, measurable, and positive social impact, with the principal objective being social impact, not profit—although profit, especially if used to fund program expansion, is not discouraged.
Several Chapter Excellence Awards were presented to members who have contributed extensive volunteer time organizing ASAP chapter events in France and the US’s New England, Midwest (honorable mention), and Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. The chapters received awards for their strong commitment, use of best practices, development of community relations, and strong programming.
