5k Race for The Family Event Supports Families Struggling with Infertility
BALTIMORE (PRWEB) June 06, 2018 -- On June 16th, hundreds of families will come together during the 2018 Maryland Race for the Family at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. This is the 12th race celebrating the strength and courage it takes to overcome infertility. Funds raised will support families locally as well as throughout the nation with costs associated with fertility treatment and adoption. This year’s Race Chairperson is Ashley James, anchor of Good Morning Maryland (WMAR, ABC 2 News).
This is the 10th time that Shady Grove Fertility has served as the presenting sponsor for the Race for the Family. During 10 previous Maryland Race for the Family events, these two organizations have raised over $800,000 to support families who are struggling with, and overcoming infertility.
“The Race is our celebration of and for families. We have the opportunity to give back to the community while bringing families together to help others.” – Camille Hammond, M.D., CEO and Co-Founder of the Cade Foundation.
“We're proud to sponsor the Race for the Family again this year, which has raised enough funds to support more than 90 family building grants to date, with 75 babies born as a result.” – Frank Chang, M.D. – Shady Grove Fertility
This year’s race, which takes place from 7 until 11 AM, will feature a 5k run, 5k walk, 1.5 mile Family Fun Run, and Savannah’s Playground – a play and education zone for kids ages 2 through 8. Savannah’s Playground features child entertainers, a “toddler trot” animal ambassador from the zoo, and other activities. Registrants will receive a complimentary entry into the zoo, a 2018 MD Race for the Family tech t-shirt, and a swag bag. If you are a family in need of support, you have the option to enter for a chance to win up to $10,000 in fertility treatment at Shady Grove Fertility. All registered finishers will also receive a medal. The event’s registration process can be completed at https://2018raceforthefamily.eventbrite.com.
