Io-Tahoe Brings Machine Learning-Driven Data Discovery to DGIQ and DataWorks Conferences in California
NEW YORK and LONDON (PRWEB) June 12, 2018 -- Io-Tahoe, a pioneer in machine learning-driven smart data discovery products, announced its sponsorship of two conferences this month in California. Both conferences will focus on how immense amounts of data are used by major corporations worldwide.
The company is exhibiting at the Data Governance and Information Quality Conference (DGIQ June 11- 15), in San Diego. It is also sponsoring next week’s DataWorks Summit (June 17- 21), being held in San Jose, which is described as “the world’s premier big data community event for everything data.”
Io-Tahoe will demonstrate its smart data discovery platform, featuring the Data Catalog, which allows data owners and stewards to utilize machine learning to create, maintain and search business rules on a consistent basis, regardless of how much data a company may have or where it is located. Io-Tahoe’s data discovery capability provides complete business rule management and enrichment, enabling a business user to govern the rules and define policies for critical data elements. It allows data-driven enterprises to enhance information about data automatically, regardless of the underlying technology and build a data catalog.
With the explosion of data being managed by companies of all sizes, the data discovery market has grown exponentially. MarketsandMarkets estimates that the data discovery market is estimated to grow at almost 20 percent annually to $10.66 billion within the next three years. It cites the “increasing importance of data-driven decision-making, growing trends of self-service Business Intelligence (BI) tools, and insight generation from a growing number of multi-structured data sources.”
The emergence of global privacy rules such as the new European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are also key factors. “Businesses have data stored across multiple databases and data lakes and must retain total control over each instance as part of these new standards as well as existing rules like HIPAA,” said Lola Bhadmus, Io-Tahoe’s vice president, marketing and communications. “The failure to maintain that control, and to delete multiple instances of data upon demand, can easily subject companies to significant fines. Io-Tahoe enables companies to locate the data, regardless of where it exists, to easily understand data dependencies and the flow of information throughout their enterprise,” Bhadmus added.
During an Io-Tahoe webinar conducted on 5 June, author/reporter Pam Baker said she believes that GDPR has already become a de facto global standard, even though the rules do not technically apply under United States law. “It’s a matter of practicality,” Baker said, citing the potential for “enormous” fines. “Once you have those standards in place (in the European Union),” she said, “it’s easier to just apply it to everybody, especially when the law itself follows the person, not the geography.” (A full broadcast is available at http://www.io-tahoe.com/webinars.)
Attendees at the DGIQ conference can see a demonstration of Io-Tahoe in action at booth #7; attendees at the DataWorks Summit can visit Io-Tahoe at booth #S4.
