Zagoria Law Settles Dog Bite Case for $300,000 Policy Limit
ATLANTA (PRWEB) June 12, 2018 -- Zagoria Law, an Atlanta-based law firm specializing in personal injury cases, today announced the settlement of Mao v. Garcia (Civil Action File No.: 18C02521-5), a dog bite case, for policy limits of $300,000. The case was pending in the State Court of Gwinnett County, Georgia.
Per court documents, Zhongkai Mao was walking on the sidewalk in his neighborhood, near the intersection of Five Forks Trickum Road and Emerald Forest Circle, when he was attacked by two unrestrained dogs. As a result, Mao incurred severe wounds on his left arm and leg requiring immediate surgery.
“We believe that dog owners should be held responsible for the actions of their pets, particularly when people are seriously injured,” said David Zagoria, Founder and Principal of Zagoria Law. “Doctors say that the injuries sustained by our client, Mr. Mao, could require years of rehabilitation. We are satisfied that he will now have the money needed to pay for his medical care.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 4.7 million people are bitten by dogs each year, however only about 17 percent of those bites are reported to authorities. Nearly 800,000 dog bites require medical attention every year.
