Ready…Set…Accredited! Urgent Care Association to Offer Hands-On Accreditation Workshop
WARRENVILLE, Ill. (PRWEB) June 13, 2018 -- The Urgent Care Association (UCA) will hold an Accreditation Workshop on Aug. 9-10, 2018, at its office in suburban Chicago. The workshop will provide urgent care operators with insights from surveyors and founders of the accreditation program on how best to prepare for and achieve accreditation, as well as networking opportunities with other on-demand healthcare professionals going through various stages of the process.
UCA Accreditation is highly sought after by urgent care centers looking to demonstrate their high standards of care to both patients and payers. Because UCA’s accreditation process recognizes the nuances associated with on-demand medicine in ambulatory care, UCA currently accredits more urgent care centers across the country than any other organization. By providing resources and education opportunities such as the Accreditation Workshop, UCA works with urgent care centers to support achievement of this distinction.
“The UCA Accreditation Workshop is dual-purposed, helping those preparing for their first survey as well as those who are working to maintain compliance with the Accreditation Standards,” said Barb Newman, UCA content coordinator and accreditation surveyor. “Surveys take place every three years and many things can happen during that time, from staff turnover to structural changes within an organization. This workshop will help operators understand their options for staying on track.”
What to Expect at the Workshop
The workshop will be led by UCA Accreditation leaders, surveyors, founders and industry experts who have gone through the accreditation process and gained valuable insight along the way. Content will include topics such as:
• Overcoming the most common survey challenges
• Getting started - Conducting a gap analysis
• Creating an overarching quality plan, including a culture of quality
Attendees will also engage in a mock survey where faculty will walk them through a simulated urgent care center to learn the steps and demystify the experience. The workshop is ideal for centers considering accreditation, recently accredited, up for renewal in the process of accreditation, and recently opened or with staff who may be new to the process.
“The Accreditation Workshop is designed to provide the most valuable information to centers at all stages of the accreditation process to ensure an easier, simpler experience for centers seeking accreditation. This isn’t a series of lectures. It is a menu of workshop options, depending on where you are in the process. Attendees will walk away with completed preparatory work and will be ready to hit the ground running, whether in the beginning stages or preparing for reaccreditation,” said Laurel Stoimenoff, CEO of UCA.
Why Choose UCA Accreditation
As the highest level of distinction, UCA Accreditation is the only program of its kind to showcase those urgent care centers that meet both certification criteria for scope of services and accreditation standards of quality and safety. Achieving UCA Accreditation distinguishes urgent care centers in a crowded market and creates a competitive advantage with payers, while providing patients with peace of mind that they are receiving the highest quality care.
“Medical malpractice insurance carriers are taking notice of UCA Accreditation for its impact on quality and safety, with some offering organizations a risk management credit of 2.5 to 15 percent,” said Stoimenoff. “Likewise, consumer behavior is changing and patients are more likely to select cost-effective, high-quality providers. UCA Accreditation is a trustworthy ‘seal of approval’ for patients and payers, and our experts leading the workshop want to help all centers reach this achievement. We are immensely proud of this program and even prouder of the organizations who’ve made a commitment to raising the bar.”
