Author Who Lost Brother and Children Guides Readers through Grief and toward Healing in New Book
MOUNT POCONO, Pa. (PRWEB) June 18, 2018 -- Following the loss of her brother and children, Kathleen Hathaway Mitchel sought out books and stories from others who’d also lost children or siblings. Eventually, she felt drawn to write her own story and share it with readers in grief.
“Treasures in Tragedy: A Journey through Grief” includes questions for readers to ponder and journal, rituals that help readers reclaim control over their grief, resources for keeping the memory of their loved one alive and suggestions for families to help the grieving.
“Bereaved parents may do things that seem strange to others,” Mitchel said. “That does not mean they are crazy or that they are not moving forward in their grief. They are coping the best way they can. They are trying to keep their child's memory alive.”
Mitchel’s book draws from her personal life as she is inspired by the loss of her children and her brother. She uses her personal experience to sympathize with the reader and speaks to the emotions readers may feel while grieving a loss.
“After my son Steven died, I began to read books about grieving, written by those who also had a child die,” said Mitchel. “I needed to identify with somebody. I needed to know that I was not going crazy and that what I was feeling was normal, whatever normal means when your child has died.”
“Treasures in Tragedy” will inspire readers who have lost someone to overcome grief, heal and honor their loved one.
