Pinellas County Schools Selects PowerSchool to Streamline and Automate its Financial and Human Resource Processes
FOLSOM, Calif. (PRWEB) June 20, 2018 -- Pinellas, Florida’s 8th largest school district, recently chose PowerSchool to modernize its financial and human resources procedures. PowerSchool Finance and HR will replace Pinellas’ current software solution to streamline budgeting, purchasing, and human resource processes for the 100,000 students and 15,000 staff members of the district.
“As we began evaluating the features and functionality of our current ERP solution, it became vital for our district to implement a more efficient and modernized system to meet our operational needs,” said Tom Lechner, Assistant Superintendent of Pinellas.
“We went through the RFP process and researched to identify a provider that currently serves K-12 public schools in Florida, has hosting capabilities, is regulatory compliant in the state of Florida, and can deliver a scalable, streamlined solution. PowerSchool met all of those requirements.”
PowerSchool Finance and HR is a software solution that streamlines the accounting process and employee experience for K-12 schools. The solution centralizes fiscal information, general ledgers, employee information, benefits, professional development, attendance, and payroll to give K-12 school district personnel greater visibility into vital information for making informed decisions that impact school operations.
“We are thrilled and honored to partner with Pinellas to provide a streamlined solution that supports their district operational success, freeing up staff time so that their focus continues to be on student success,” said Chris Porter, PowerSchool President and Chief Operating Officer. “School leaders are increasingly seeking options that optimize financial and HR processes for their school administrators. We have been impressed with the team at Pinellas and are looking forward to working with them to realize their vision in this area.”
“Having a central system and repository for all of our information will eliminate our school staff working in silos where they maintained separate databases and spreadsheets due to limitations in our current ERP solution,” said Lechner.
Lechner noted an extended amount of time is needed in their current system to generate and mail a purchase order. District leaders were looking for a more efficient solution that makes purchasing easier for staff across the 135 schools the district serves.
“We are excited to get PowerSchool’s ERP solution up and running to have everything integrated and tie into our general ledger, which is our financial backbone,” said Lechner. “As part of our due diligence in selecting PowerSchool, we visited another district in the area to see the solution in action and conducted a pilot of the product last fall. Based on our research and what the solution can offer our district, we selected PowerSchool over multiple other K-12 EdTech vendors to take us into the 21st century.”
