ITS Certified as Women Business Enterprise
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (PRWEB) June 26, 2018 -- ITS Certified as Women Business Enterprise
ITS – Integrated Telemanagement Services, Inc., the 28 year old Telecommunications and IT company headquartered in Simi Valley, California announced today that it has been certified by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE).
"This marks another major milestone for ITS," said Sharon Woods, who in August 2001 was named the President of ITS and in July 2004 completed a purchase ITS from the founders. "When I took over the management and ownership of ITS, the telecommunications industry was a male dominated industry. A woman president was quite unique. Today there are many more women in technology and I hope to inspire more women in the future”.
Under the leadership of Sharon Woods, ITS has evolved the business from a traditional telecommunications company to a technology solutions company. ITS achieved this by anticipating the needs of the small/medium businesses they serve and delivering uniquely packaged products to meet those needs, whether it's voice services, internet access, cloud services, or managed IT and business continuity solutions. As technologies continue to advance, ITS will be there to evaluate the appropriateness for their clients. Sharon Woods said “ITS will continue to simplify technology so that our clients can focus on their business and have the peace of mind that the technology they depend on will just work.”
The CPUC has certified women and minority owned business enterprises since 1988 when the commission adopted General Order 156, requiring certain regulated utilities and their regulated subsidiaries in California to implement programs that expand their business relationships with women and minority owned businesses (“WMBEs”). The Supplier Clearinghouse is a Commission-supervised entity which audits and verifies the status of WMBEs, and maintains a database of women, minority, and service disabled veteran owned businesses that is accessible to both the CPUC and participating utilities.
The Women & Minority Owned Business Enterprise certification process is rigorous. It includes verification of the firm's operational stability and fiscal health, as well as a thorough review of the majority owner's qualifying characteristics. The process is administered by a CPUC-created entity known as the Supplier Clearinghouse. According to its public database, the Supplier Clearinghouse has certified just 58 women owned technology companies throughout the state of California. Sharon also said "By achieving this certification, we look forward to providing California utilities options to help them meet their diversity requirements while speeding up the contracting process."
