Bird-X Sonic Bird Deterrent Product Could Prevent Gulls from Attacking Other Birds

This week in Chicago, over 50 baby seagulls were found dead on a sidewalk, having been dropped from above by other gulls attacking them and their parents. Bird-X’s sonic bird deterrent, the Super BirdXPeller® PRO, emits predator bird cries that frighten and repel birds from an area.

Foul play was suspected at first when over 50 baby seagulls were found dead on a Chicago sidewalk, presumably dropped from the tall building above. However, wildlife experts have determined this not to be the case, as investigators from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service actually saw the attacks happen firsthand, after going to the area where the gulls were first found. The attacks were still going on, and the investigators watched as adult seagulls were pushing smaller birds from the roof.

This is a natural occurrence in nature. Adult birds can attack chicks that are not their own offspring. Gulls are very aggressive, and the act is one of a competitive nature – whose babies are going to survive. It has been speculated that a lack of available food or nesting areas could have caused the attacks.

If these birds were deterred from the area, they may find places that aren’t overpopulated with other birds. Bird deterrent product manufacturer Bird-X, Inc. has a species-specific sonic product that is equipped with naturally recorded distress calls (from seagulls) and predator cries from birds of prey like hawks and falcons that confuse, frighten, and disorient pest birds. The device projects the sounds out of a robust four-speaker system, and has a total coverage area of up to six acres. Sounds are randomized as to prevent acclimation to any sound pattern.

Bird-X, Inc. has spent over 50 years protecting public areas from over 60 bird-spread transmissible diseases. The leading international brand of humane bird control solutions, this Chicago-based company manufactures a complete line of unique bird control products, protecting the health of humans, wildlife, and the environment by deterring birds from unwanted areas without harming them.
