Dr. James Petros, the Institute’s Founder and Medical Director, has hired Dr. Sloane Yu, a Pain Medicine Fellow from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Allied Pain & Spine Institute, with locations in Los Gatos and San Jose, CA, is growing quickly and therefore bringing on board top pain specialist Sloane Yu, MD.

Dr. Yu will provide a wide range of pain management procedures, including epidural injections, discography, radio-frequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation and stem cell therapy. These advanced procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, meaning patients can achieve tailored pain relief without hospital stays or lengthy recovery times.

Dr. Yu, who is fluent in Chinese, completed his Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency at Stanford University Medical Center and received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He has an MBA in Healthcare Management from Brandeis-Heller School of Social Policy and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a major in biology. He was also a Pain Medicine Fellow at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Dr. Petros believes that patients want options that do not necessarily involve surgery and that specializing in non-surgical orthopedics has helped his patient population in growing a multi-disciplinary pain practice involves not just one "cookie cutter" approach but a thorough understanding of the musculoskeletal system in order to properly diagnose and restore function.

"Our medical providers at Allied Pain & Spine Institute are qualified under the Drug Addiction Treatment Act to prescribe Suboxone, a medication to reduce withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings," says Petros. "Combined with psychosocial support and counseling, our patients are safely removed from improper opioid medications. Given the opioid crisis this country is experiencing, we are very proud of our work in this area."
