J. H. Whitson’s Newly Released “The Little Cowboy” is a Heartwarming Retelling of a Little Boy’s Christmas Miracle, as Originally Told by Ray Nelson Hamilton
MEADVILLE, Pa. (PRWEB) June 27, 2018 -- “The Little Cowboy”: a simple but profoundly uplifting book about a boy’s dream and his Christmas miracle. “The Little Cowboy” is the creation of published author Ray Nelson Hamilton, who grew up as the youngest of three boys during the Great Depression, and retold after his passing by J. H. Whitson, his daughter, as a combined effort with Ray Hamilton’s wife, Marteena “Joyce” Hamilton.
Whitson writes of her father as a young boy, the “little cowboy”: “It was during the Great Depression, and money and jobs were scarce. The little cowboy was dreaming about owning his own cowboy chaps. He kept the catalogue picture with him day and night. He imagined himself feeling his chaps bouncing and blowing in the wind.
His older brothers said, ‘There’s no Santa Claus. Corn cobs are for boys like you. Besides, we found the hidden Christmas gifts, and you didn’t get any chaps.’ But he knew that Santa Claus was real and that he would get his chaps. Christmas Eve finally arrived, presents were opened, and guess what? No chaps. ‘So what!’ he said to his laughing brothers. ‘Santa comes tonight, and he will bring my chaps.’
He went to bed early. And sure enough, when he woke up, all he found in his stocking was an apple, an orange, and some nuts. He was so sad, disappointed, and confused. ‘Were they right? No Santa Claus? No one to hear and answer prayers for toys?’ He couldn’t stop crying. Rivers of tears flowed down his cheeks.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, J. H. Whitson’s new book telling her father’s story is more than a touching story about how dreams come true—it is also a true-to-life testament of the truth in Jesus’s words when He said, “Whatsoever things you desire when you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them and you shall have them.”
In its inspiring whole, Ray Hamilton’s story is the tender story of a young boy’s unwavering faith despite obstacles.
