Acer and Wonder Workshop Form Alliance to Bring STEAM, Coding to K-8 Schools
CHICAGO (PRWEB) June 25, 2018 -- Acer America today announced an alliance with Wonder Workshop to deliver unique STEAM bundles in the United States that teach K-8 students coding, robotics and computer science as part of their STEAM initiatives. The bundles pair Wonder Workshop’s Cue, Dash and Dot robots with Acer Chromebooks, Chrome tablets, Window notebook PCs and Android tablets.
The new STEAM bundles are being shown in Acer's (2002) and Wonder Workshop’s(5418) booths this week at ISTE 2018 in Chicago at McCormick Place West Building.
Acer is the first provider of Chromebooks, Chrome tablets and Windows notebook PCs to be compliant with Wonder Workshop’s award-winning robotics products. Chromebooks and Windows notebook PCs are two of the most widely used computing platforms in elementary and middle schools in the U.S., giving elementary schools more options for establishing and expanding STEAM programs, including robotics and coding.
Wonder Workshop’s Cue, Dash, and Dot robots allow students to build and develop computer science skills, while also learning the fundamental skills of critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and creative storytelling. The personable robots, used in more than 20,000 schools worldwide, provide out-of-the box innovation and engage students across the curriculum.
“Acer and Wonder Workshop are combining proven technologies to provide schools with an adaptable curriculum integrating STEAM concepts for students at a range of ages and skill levels,” said Phil Burger, senior director, U.S. Commercial Sales, Acer America. “The Acer Wonder Workshop STEAM bundle will help schools give students more opportunities to experience science throughout the day, whether in the classroom for cross-curricular lessons, in a computer lab for dedicated programs, or during after-school learning in camps, clubs and competitions.”
“Our robots are on a mission to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences for students of all ages,” said Vikas Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Wonder Workshop. “Through our collaboration with Acer, more students will have the opportunity to explore computer science and develop the critical skills necessary for students to compete in tomorrow’s job market.”
