Naviance By Hobsons Announces Ladder of Hope to Assist Underserved Students
ARLINGTON, Va. (PRWEB) June 27, 2018 -- Hobsons, the education technology leader and company behind Naviance, today announces The Ladder of Hope white paper and webinar series. Both new resources provide districts and schools with strategies to engage underrepresented students as educators expand the definition of college and career readiness to meet the needs of all students.
Underrepresented students face disproportionate challenges in achieving their long term goals. College and career readiness initiatives are proven to help students climb the Ladder of Hope by keeping students engaged in school, improving academic performance and achieving life goals. The Ladder of Hope resources illustrate the long-term impact that maintaining high-levels of hope and engagement can have on a student’s journey toward a fulfilling life and career.
“When students are engaged in their school experience, they are excited about what their future holds,” said Kim Oppelt, Director of Education and Outreach. “Educators have an opportunity to capture this hope in middle school and help students create a plan to remain engaged and throughout high school and into their future. The Ladder of Hope provides best practices to do just that.”
The white paper and webinar series are based on expert knowledge and research and explore five ways counselors and teachers can help underserved students transcend barriers to post-secondary success:
- Step 1: How to Foster Engagement and Hope in Underserved Students
- Step 2: Start Early to Build on Aspirations of Middle Schoolers
- Step 3: Helping Students Utilize Their Support Networks
- Step 4: Make Learning Personal by Setting a Plan for Success
- Step 5: Utilizing Data to Spark Outcomes
Members of the Naviance team will present a session on the Ladder of Hope at Hobsons Summer Institute 2018 in July, the premier conference that brings together over 1,000 K-12 and higher education professionals. The session, titled “The Ladder of Hope: The Urgent Need for College and Career Readiness for All,” will explore the myriad ways school districts across the country are engaging underserved students and will provide an interactive discussion on how to better serve these student populations.
