Sue Duran and Sheila Haller’s Book “Ozzie” Is an Australian Take on Hans Christian Anderson’s Classic Tale about a Baby “Swan” Who Just Doesn’t Fit in with His Siblings
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (PRWEB) June 29, 2018 -- Sue Duran and Sheila Haller, retired elementary school teachers who share a love of storytelling and inspiration from their travels around the world, have completed their book “Ozzie”: a story about a young platypus who feels out of place in the nest in which he was born.
“Ozzie” is the classic story of “The Ugly Duckling” but with an Australian twist. Ozzie, an endearing baby platypus, finds himself the outcast in a family of black swans. He is ridiculed by his siblings and other Australian riverbank animals. Dejected, he decides to leave in search of where he truly belongs. On his walkabout, Ozzie meets one friendly lamb, but as he continues on, a grumpy old sheep, a fast-talking wallaby, colorful lorikeets, and a know-it-all koala all belittle and reject him. Sad and alone, Ozzie travels through the Australian bush and rainforest until he finally meets another platypus. He realizes that he is not a swan but a member of a loving platypus family.
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Sue Duran and Sheila Haller’s book is both an uplifting story of family and belonging and an example of the pain caused by unkindness towards those who are different.
Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase “Ozzie” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
