Greenberg Traurig Strategically Grows Corporate Practice with Michael A. Aluko in New York
NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 02, 2018 -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has continued the expansion of its Corporate Practice and Financial Regulatory & Compliance Group with the strategic addition of Michael A. Aluko as a shareholder in its New York City office. He joins from SECOR Asset Management.
Aluko counsels clients on the legal aspects of investment management, private investment funds including real estate funds, private equity funds, and hedge funds, derivatives, and regulatory matters. He also works with institutional investors and sponsors on the regulatory and legal issues impacting real estate, private equity, and hedge fund structures.
“Michael’s experience in the financial regulatory and funds arena is a key area of need for many of our clients and we look forward to working with him as we continue to expand these offerings,” said Alan I. Annex, co-chair of the firm’s global Corporate Practice. “In addition, his in-house background provides him with a deep understanding of what clients need and expect from their counsel, further enhancing the client experience.”
“The addition of Michael underscores our deliberate approach of recruiting high-level lawyers to address client needs - further expanding our one-stop capabilities,” said Stephen L. Rabinowitz, the firm’s New York Managing Shareholder. “Greenberg Traurig’s clients will benefit from Michael’s real estate funds experience and he will be an asset to the firm’s award-winning Real Estate Practice.”
“I have been aware of Greenberg Traurig’s unique platform and reputation for quality and collaboration, which was further reinforced by my friends and former colleagues whom I am excited to work with once again,” Aluko said. “Additionally, I look forward to working with the full range of Greenberg Traurig lawyers, actively participating in the growth of the practice. Critical to achieving this will be my background and experience on the proverbial ‘other side’ as an in-house practitioner.”
Aluko’s experience includes serving as in-house counsel at SECOR Asset Management, LP; Assistant General Counsel for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas; Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch; and Vice President and Counsel at Societe Generale. In addition, Aluko spent many years in the Structured Products and Derivatives Department of a major New York law firm where he advised and represented hedge funds and investment managers on derivatives and structured transactions.
Aluko is admitted to practice in New York and Texas. He received his J.D. from New York Law School in 2001 and his B.B.A. from Baruch College, The City University of New York in 1998.
Aluko joins on the heels of Jared A. Hershberg, a corporate shareholder who joined from Reed Smith, and Paul Ferrillo, a cybersecurity shareholder who joined from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
