Themes of Fantasy, Shapeshifting and Companionship Converge in New Book
NAPERVILLE, Ill. (PRWEB) July 09, 2018 -- Author Lisa Zarkin McHugh has recently released her debut middle-grade novel, “Layla Bali,” a fantasy fiction middle-grade novel detailing the thin line between fantasy and reality.
Layla Bali is an eleven-year-old girl who sees things that others don’t. When Layla’s dog, Molly, goes missing, Layla’s search for her leads her into a strange new land called Baismal.
Layla must save Molly from her kidnapper, Malkolm, the ruler of Baismal, but her mission and world completely changes when Layla accidentally transforms her companion, Jasmine, from a housecat into a great black panther. It is then she discovers her special gift and that her words are more powerful than she previously thought.
“As a child, I used to have vivid and fantastic dreams,” McHugh said. “These books are loosely based on those dreams and my wild imagination. I knew I could make the characters in the book come to life if I wrote their stories on paper.”
Young adult and middle-grade readers will love following Layla’s journey and exploration of her powers in this riveting tale.
