Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program Surprises 100 Joliet-Area Families with Bed Packages
JOLIET, Ill. (PRWEB) July 10, 2018 -- One hundred families expecting to have summer fun at a Joliet Slammers baseball game received a home run of a surprise when Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program gave them new twin bed packages.
Through its program, Ashley HomeStore partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will & Grundy Counties to donate and deliver twin mattresses, bed frames, bedding, pillows, teddy bears, gym bags and Bedgear pillows. These families also enjoyed refreshments, entertainment and a Joliet Slammers game.
“We know how getting a good night’s sleep is essential and important to a young person’s growth and health,” said Andrea Mattea, AHS field marketing manager. “We were so excited to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will & Grundy Counties to help these families not only with bed packages but to give them a wonderful experience watching the Joliet Slammers.”
For seven years, Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program has delivered more than 50,000 beds to underprivileged children between the ages of 3 and 16 who are without beds and families, who earn very low incomes, live in poverty or are transitioning from a homeless situation. The company learns about these families and children from nominations sent by school social workers, case managers, churches and other charitable organizations.
Portions of customers’ mattress purchases at participating Ashley HomeStore locations fund the program.
Samantha Godfrey, community based program manager of Big Brothers Big Sisters, was very grateful for Ashley HomeStore’s generous donation to its families.
"All our children come from some form of at-risk situation, many of them coming from low-income households,” Godfrey said. “Thanks to this event, this is the first time that these children are receiving a comfortable bed. I had one of my children come up to me and say over and over again ‘I am so excited for my new bed. I cannot wait to get home and set it up. I really needed a new bed.’” This statement along with seeing all the excitement and smiles on our children's faces should show how much of a difference Ashley Home Store has made not only in our children's lives but in our community!”
