DC Norris North America to Support Food Rescue Efforts in West Michigan
Traverse City based food processing equipment manufacturer commits to donating $1 to Feeding America West Michigan for every business card collected in their booth at the 2018 Making It In Michigan Conference and Trade Show in East Lansing, Michigan on November 8, 2018.
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., Nov. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DC Norris North America will be exhibiting at the 2018 Making It In Michigan Marketplace Trade Show on November 8, 2018 at the Lansing Center in East Lansing, Michigan. Since opening their first US office in Traverse City, Michigan in 2015, DC Norris North America has been helping its clients (global food producers including Heinz and Hormel) engineer state-of-the-art, highly efficient food manufacturing plants around the globe. This year, DC Norris North America is taking its commitment to food processing efficiency a step further and focusing on making an impact close to home. As an extension of their commitment to helping reduce waste, DC Norris North America will donate $1 to Feeding America West Michigan for every business card they collect in their booth (#607) at the November 8th Making It In Michigan Trade Show.
More than 900 agencies throughout a 40 county region across west Michigan rely on Feeding America West Michigan to provide food to the nearly half million people battling hunger and food uncertainty in the area. In 2017, Feeding America West Michigan was able to distribute 26.7 million pounds of food, the equivalent of more than 22 million meals. Not only did this food provide for those in need, much of it was collected through food rescue efforts - saving it from an unnecessary trip to the trash.
With the help of conference attendees in East Lansing next Thursday, DC Norris North America hopes to help Feeding America West Michigan recover even more food from area farmers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers this year. According to the Feeding America West Michigan website, every $1 donated helps provide four meals.
Dick Smith, President of DC Norris North America remarked, "It's been such an honor to be here helping North American businesses produce incredible foods. Finding a way to give back, to help reduce food waste and feed those in the communities we live and work in is an equally important part of what we do as an organization. In addition to the funds we're able to raise at the show, we hope this inspires other businesses and community members to help organizations like Feeding America West Michigan take surplus foods that will otherwise go to waste and deliver them directly to those who need them."
