PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Pathfinder Network announced today it has hired two new employees, welcoming Patrick Schreiner as a senior evidence-based policy advisor and Truls Neal as a senior program manager leading reentry services at The Pathfinder Network's service delivery center. The addition of Schreiner and Neal will bolster the organization's work to provide support and resources for criminal justice system-impacted individuals and families in both prison and community settings.
Schreiner joins the organization as former district manager for Multnomah County's Department of Community Justice. With 35 years of experience in community corrections as a parole and probation officer, supervisor and manager, Schreiner has been an advocate for evidence-based practices over the course of his career. He brings his valuable experience to The Pathfinder Network assisting with program development, implementation and sustainability, staff training and coaching, and planning and evaluation efforts to ensure the agency utilizes and maintains evidence-based approaches. As a certified Effective Practices in Community Supervision (EPICS) trainer and contractor with the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute, Schreiner will help support and grow the organization's training team.
Additionally, Schreiner will assist in implementing and training staff on The Pathfinder Network's new cognitive behavioral change curriculum, Free Your Mind CORE, which will be taught in most of Oregon's prisons. He will also be involved in implementing programs associated with the agency's Second Chance Act grant, which enables the organization to work with mothers and fathers both before they release from prison and after they return to the community at The Pathfinder Network's Center for Family Success in east Multnomah County.
Neal will lead the Second Chance Act grant reentry efforts, based on his strong experience as the former director and deputy director of Multnomah County Department of Community Justice. Neal has worked as a corrections professional for more than 30 years in various capacities in the criminal justice field. His wealth of experience includes corrections counselor, juvenile counselor, parole and probation officer and fourteen years in community corrections management. He currently serves on the board for the American Probation and Parole Association; locally in Portland Neal has served as an executive member of the Multnomah County Managers of Color.
As senior program manager, Neal's role includes supervision, reporting, implementation, and coordination with organizational partners. Additionally, Neal will assist the agency's director of community programs, Meredith Olson-Goldsby, on issues involving the development, administration, and expansion of programs at The Center for Family Success. He will play a key role in advancing The Pathfinder Network's efforts toward greater impact and growth, and in developing community relationships and connections.
Schreiner and Neal join The Pathfinder Network during a time of tremendous growth. Today the organization offers multiple evidence-based programs in Oregon's prison system, including cognitive-behavioral programming, parenting education, drug and alcohol treatment, trauma intervention and gender responsive programming. In Multnomah County, The Pathfinder Network's Center for Family Success provides a unique array of supportive programs and services for parents returning to their families and communities, with mentoring and trauma-informed services for children impacted by parental incarceration. Since founded in 1993, The Pathfinder Network has collectively served over 40,000 justice system-impacted individuals and families across the state of Oregon.
