The International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) membership has elected Mark Van Bruggen, IPMA-SCP, as the association’s president-elect for 2023 to represent the interests of public sector HR professionals. Van Bruggen has more than 34 years of public sector HR experience at the NJ Civil Service Commission and was recently advanced to become the HR Consultant to the Chief of Staff. In this new role, he advises the current administration on a myriad of civil service issues and appointments at the highest levels of state government.
He has served as IPMA-HR New Jersey chapter president, IPMA-HR Eastern Region president and has been a two-time member of the IPMA-HR Executive Council. The term of service for Van Bruggen will begin January 1, 2023.
Van Bruggen was introduced during the 2022 IPMA-HR Annual Business Meeting on September 30, 2022.
In 2023, Van Bruggen will serve alongside Cheryl Lewis-Smith, IPMA-SCP, IPMA-HR 2023 Executive Council president and Jennifer Fairweather, MPA, PHR, IPMA-SCP, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-HR 2023 past president. He will become IPMA-HR president in 2024.
The IPMA-HR Executive Council appointed two new members to the Council. The newly appointed council members are Carol Rubino, IPMA-SCP (for a 3-year term) and Amy Strough, IPMA-SCP (completing a one-year term to fill a vacancy).
The following Executive Council members will continue their terms on the 14-member council: Melanie Ault, IPMA-SCP, Amy Blake, IPMA-SCP, SHRM-SCP, Tamara Dixon, MPA, PHR, IPMA-SCP, SHRM-SCP, Joe Genovay, MPA, Brian Haggarty, Christine Hoffmann, IPMA-SCP, Trish Holliday, SPHR, SHRMSCP, IPMA-SCP, CPC, Lucinda Kenning, MBA, SPHR and Sonja Stanchina, IPMA-SCP.
