Short-term audio content can include genres of music, entertainment, breaking news, or global news. It can provide interviews, talk shows, audiobooks, or soundtracks.
The influence of microblogging platforms like Twitter impacts Tonto because where you would normally “tweet” something, you can speak the “tweet”. Considering the technology-based society we live in, there is a rise in popularity of short videos called “shorts” on YouTube and “reels” on Instagram. Yet, in spite of the growth of podcasts and audiobooks, there has been no creation of mainstream short-form audio. Tonto brings different aspects of media platforms into one.
A personal idea of Founder and CEO Manna Justin, Tonto was conceived during the Covid-19 lockdown period. The idea has taken shape into Tonto and offers a solid platform to publish intriguing audio content.
Tonto is run by a young international team living in three continents. The team is growing rapidly as the founder Manna Justin is attracting the best talent to take this platform global.
Tonto is not restricted to extremely short content. Even though it is principally built for short-form audio, it does not limit the size of the content. Anything from a thought or blurb, to a statement or a jam session is welcome.
It is currently offered as a limited release, invitation only, but users can request access on the Tonto App. The invitation-only is to influence as many content creators to get on-board before it opens to the public. It intends to reward early adopters, content creators, and influencers with profitable monetization opportunities. The new monetization engine is being released in the second half of 2023.
Plenty of thought has gone into making the Tonto App accessible, simple to use, and easy to create and publish audio. It is as easy as pressing the record button, talking into your phone, and pressing post. Tonto uses an innovative voice note messaging system similar to options on WhatsApp, which is widely used in parts of the world. It is exclusively audio messages.
In essence, Tonto is about free speech in the literal sense. Anyone can say anything they want. With this in mind, CEO Justin warns users that abusive content and profiles will be blocked. There is a community-wide flagging and reporting system built into the platform.
The controlled launch of the Tonto App along with the participation as a Media Startup is being showcased in the Web Summit. The Web Summit reveal is bringing a lot of interest from podcasters, publishers, news outlets, musicians, comedians, and young users. It’s a global platform available for all major languages.
