Smilegate's CrossFire Stars 2022 Grand Finals Open in Jeju Island
The best CrossFire players from around the world enter the heated 10-day competition on Jeju Island.
TORONTO, Dec. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Smilegate Entertainment (CEO: Ina Jang) announced Thursday, December 2 that it will be holding the opening ceremony for the CFS 2022 Grand Finals, the world's most prestigious CrossFire eSports tournament, and begin the heated 10-day competition.
The CFS 2022 Grand Finals, which marks its 11th anniversary this year, will be the largest in scale ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, expanding the schedule and participating teams. A total of 12 teams from four regions (China, EU-MENA, Brazil, and Southeast Asia) will participate this year, up 50% from last year. The prize pool increased 56% over the previous year totaling $1,340,000.
The CFS 2022 Grand Finals improved the tournament system to make it fun to watch the expanded tournament. Firstly, wild card matches have been implemented so teams that place in third place can advance to the playoffs through wild card matches. Also, official CFS maps increased from five to seven, and the map ban-pick system changed so that players may utilize more diverse strategies.
Among the 12 teams, ALL GAMERS from China (last year's champion), Extenzy Gaming from Brazil, TeamMyth from EU-MENA, and CELEBe.2L from Vietnam have been placed into Group A. All of them ranked first in their regional tournaments, so Group A is expected to be the most competitive group ever featuring exciting matches.
Group B includes SGJ Gaming from Philippines, returning to CFS for the first time in four years, Lazarus from EU-MENA, Q9 E-Sports Club from China, and Imperial from Brazil. A strong performance is expected from SGJ Gaming who defeated Pacific Macta, a strong team from Philippines, and acquired the ticket to enter this year's Grand Finals. People are anxious to see whether Imperial, who are considered one of the favorites to win, will be able to overcome Q9 E-Sports Club, a strong team from China.
Group C includes traditional powerhouses: BaiSha Gaming from China, Black Dragons from Brazil, Anubis Gaming from EU-MENA, and RANKING GAMING from Vietnam. Group C is also considered to be a competitive group, no less competitive than Group A, and the results are unpredictable. It is also noteworthy that RANKING GAMING will be making their international debut with this tournament.
As the number of participating teams increased, the tournament schedule has been significantly extended to 10 days. Therefore, the players' mental fortitude and condition will be a major factor in this tournament.
For the first time ever, global sponsorship companies such as GoPro, BenQ Korea, and Huili will be participating in the CFS 2022 Grand Finals. Action camera developer GoPro and display brand BenQ Korea will be showcasing their branded content with CFS, while the Chinese fashion brand Huili will showcase their collaboration clothes with CrossFire on the players and sponsor other branded products.
All CFS 2022 GF matches will be broadcasted live worldwide on 13 channels including the official CFS YouTube and Twitch in 5 languages including English and Chinese. A total of six broadcasters will broadcast the game from the ground, and popular CrossFire legends such as Daniel 'Danimal' Polidoro will host local broadcasts.
