“Our employees wanted to help struggling families by donating food, warm clothing and toys to help ease their financial strain.” - Brian Mangogna, vice president, Southeast Missouri Mining and Milling Division (SEMO) at Doe Run
VIBURNUM, Mo. (PRWEB) December 23, 2022
Throughout Southeast Missouri, The Doe Run Company (Doe Run) employees have come together to give back to the community in a variety of ways this holiday season.
Team members wanted to make sure that the holidays were special for local children with less financial stress for parents. Employees happily adopted families in need and checked off family wish lists with toys and warm clothing. In addition, employees donated non-perishable food items to help stock families’ pantries.
“Our Adopt-A-Family program helped 34 families, which included 146 individuals, 88 of which were school aged children,” said Laurie Estes, Iron County C-4 Junior/Senior High School business teacher, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) advisor and 6th grade sponsor. “Our students were grateful to be able to help this year.” The student chapter of the FBLA sponsored the Adopt-A-Family program.
“It has been another challenging year for many families in the six-county region where our employees predominantly live. Families have struggled with rising costs on everything from gasoline to food and utilities,” said Brian Mangogna, vice president, Southeast Missouri Mining and Milling Division (SEMO) at Doe Run. “Our employees wanted to help struggling families by donating food, warm clothing and toys to help ease their financial strain.”
Employees donated to various local organizations within the community, including The Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence Food Pantry (serving families in Crawford, Dent, Iron, Reynolds and Washington counties), Adopt-A-Family through the Iron County C-4 FBLA, Adopt-A-Family through the Valley R-VI FBLA, Bunker Mission, Advantage Home Care, Southern Reynolds County R-II, Belleview R-3, Lesterville R-IV and Bunker R-III School Districts.
