The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) has presented RideAmigos with its inaugural TDM Excellence Award for Technology and Innovation. ACT presented the award at its Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Forum in Atlanta during a ceremony hosted by ACT executive director David Straus and attended by more than 150 TDM leaders from the public and private sectors.
The TDM Excellence Awards spotlight companies, universities, and municipalities/regional governments that understand the importance of addressing commuter transportation in their efforts to improve the quality of life of employees, students, and residents; and the benefits of TDM on livability and economic competitiveness. RideAmigos was the first-ever recipient of the new award in the category of Technology and Innovation, which recognizes exemplary leadership and long-standing commitment to innovation and technology in support of TDM strategies.
”It was a great honor for ACT to take note of the success our customers and partners have achieved,” RideAmigos CEO Soren Eilertsen said. “For more than a decade, our team has been committed to raising the consciousness around commuting. By keeping commuters at the center and continuously innovating around evidence-based programs, we work to ensure that our technology solutions empower organizations of all sizes to make a positive impact.”
When RideAmigos joined ACT in 2010, TDM professionals inside organizations were using spreadsheets to match individual carpools, and services like ridematching and vanpooling and transit were siloed so commuters often had to make a choice about which option to pursue.
Today, RideAmigos’ mobile-first technology employs sophisticated algorithms and gamification to enhance commuter knowledge and choices around the commuting experience. With features such as instant up-to-date commuter information, inter-modal optimization, carpool groups, trip logging, guaranteed ride home services, incentives and reward fulfillment, RideAmigos provides the leading industry solutions for government agencies across North America and thousands of employers around the globe.
“These recipients are at the forefront of TDM, and we created this new award to recognize the benefits technology brings to transportation as well as the great work being done by our technology partners,” said ACT President Connie McGee. “Whether they’re advocating for, implementing, or creating TDM policies and programs, honorees represent the hard work that goes into making these dreams of equity, sustainability and a prospering economy an attainable reality.”
“This year’s recipients have proven that TDM is the keystone of any strategy that improves transportation options for commuters, livability for communities, and sustainability for the world,” ACT Executive Director David Straus said. “With solutions that give TDM professionals powerful influence and insights, RideAmigos has continuously advanced the practice of TDM by empowering commuters everywhere. The ACT Executive Committee was proud to recognize the RideAmigos team in person in a room full of their peers.”
Other honorees receiving TDM Excellence Awards included Google, Stanford University, the Atlanta Regional Commission, Washington, DC Department of Transportation, WeDriveU, Veronica Jarvis, and United States Representative Peter DeFazio (D-OR).
