BURLINGTON, Vt., May 9, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- 17 Communications ("17C"), a mission-driven marketing and communications consultancy specializing in the impact investing and sustainable finance sectors, today announced its certification as a B Corporation (B Corp). 17C joins more than 4,000 B Corps in more than 70 countries across 150+ industries that are committed to using their business as a force for good and to creating a positive social and environmental impact.
17 Communications was founded in January 2020 by Dmitriy Ioselevich to help meet the demand for specialized communications services for the impact investing industry. 17C works with a mix of asset managers, service providers, nonprofits, and think tanks, all with a shared mission of scaling the impact investing industry and addressing the world's collective sustainability challenges. 17C has also contributed to important field-building research on everything from best practices in impact management and impact performance reporting to complex topics like Universal Ownership and system-level investing.
"Communications firms like ours play an important role in educating different stakeholders about sustainability issues and motivating key market actors to change their behavior," said Ioselevich. "By becoming a B Corp, we want to hold ourselves accountable to a higher standard of behavior and also show our peers what it means to be a catalyst for change."
"We believe that it is important to 'walk the talk' on impact, not only in the work we do and the clients we choose to work with, but also in the way we operate," said Şule Dedekargınoğlu, Research Manager at 17 Communications. "Achieving certification as a B Corp is a significant milestone in our journey, and it provides us with a valuable roadmap as we continue to grow and evolve the business."
B Corp Certification is awarded by B Lab, a non-profit organization that is committed to transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. In order to become a certified B Corp, a company must earn a minimum audited score of 80 out of 200 possible points on the B Impact Assessment (BIA), a rigorous evaluation of a company's business practices and its impact on key stakeholder groups. B Corps are expected to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. To maintain their B Corp status, B Corps must also recertify every three years and receive an updated score.
17 Communications began working towards B Corp certification in early 2020 and achieved a final BIA score of 82.0. B Lab assessed 17C in five key areas of business operations—Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers—each of which represents a key stakeholder that contributes to the success of a business and/or are affected by its activities.
