In a computer-focused age, Marine veteran Joe “Kapper” Kapitany and his wife Sharon are getting people back to nature through their family-owned business, Kapper Outdoors.

“By educating others who want to get into land ownership, we hope to create a roadmap around the pitfalls we faced in our first years trying to maximize the value of each piece of land.” says Joe Kapitany.

Kapper Outdoors, founded on the mantra, “Living the dream, one acre at a time,” helps people passionate about the outdoors learn how to buy, own, and maintain their land. Kapper shares empowering lessons on self-sufficiency through a prolific online presence, including their website and Youtube channel.

Founding the brand on authenticity and good-natured appreciation for the natural world, the Kapitany’s have built an extensive fanbase of over 102,000 subscribers on the Kapper Outdoors Youtube channel. From demonstrating how to build wildlife ponds to sharing videos of close encounters with animals in the wild, their emphasis is centered on respecting nature while creating a habitat where both people and wildlife can thrive. An open book, Kapitany is entirely transparent with his viewers, using his own knowledge and experience to teach them best practices for farming, flipping farms and property, wildlife preservation, hunting, and more.

Kapitany and his wife, Sharon, have been sharing their passion and helping others improve their land for the last 15 years. Through the lens of their own land management adventures, they use Kapper Outdoors to show viewers how to invest in their property with hard work — whether the end goal is self-sufficiency or improved financial value.

Having owned and operated land since Kapitany’s retirement from law enforcement, they’ve learned to manage the obstacles of land ownership through trial and error — even creating a profitable business model to boost land value and sell it on to other responsible land owners.

“There’s a lot of unforeseen issues that come with owning a piece of land,” said Kapitany. “By educating others who want to get into land ownership, we hope to create a roadmap around the pitfalls we faced in our first years trying to maximize the value of each piece of land.”

At Kapper Outdoors, no aspect of land management is too small. Those who take the journey with Kapitany are better able to connect with local wildlife, avoid rookie mistakes, and create a better relationship with the land around them.
