Georgia Set to Celebrate Intellectual Property Month in October for the Fifth Consecutive Year
Role of IP in the Georgia Economy is Invaluable
ATLANTA, Sept. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (GIPA) is pleased to announce that on August 23, 2022, Governor Kemp signed a proclamation once again declaring that October will be Intellectual Property (IP) Month in Georgia. The proclamation is a recognition of the significant role that IP plays in Georgia's economy, encouraging investment in knowledge and innovation to move society forward and contribute to Georgia's thriving technology and creative media industries. Governor Kemp's declaration helps build awareness of IP across the state of Georgia and supports the ongoing efforts of GIPA and its constituents to improve access to and the functioning of the IP ecosystem for the benefit of all Georgia residents.
In honor of IP Month, GIPA will feature numerous events to highlight IP throughout the month of October. This year's celebration holds special significance as GIPA hosts US and international IP thought-leaders in Atlanta on October 20th for a full day of events, beginning with the inaugural United States Intellectual Property Alliance (USIPA) Annual Meeting at Loews Atlanta followed by GIPA's triennial IP Celebration at the Fox Theatre. The GIPA IP Celebration will include recognition of the role GIPA has played in founding the USIPA in 2020 and the launch of the Global Intellectual Property Alliance (GLIPA) in 2022. Featured guests at these events include Kathi Vidal, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and Lisa Jorgenson, Deputy Director of Patents and Technology at the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Other events through IP Month include:
CIP CUP (October 3) The 13th annual charity golf tournament at Laurel Springs Golf Club, Suwanee, Georgia, that benefits Georgia Lawyers for the Arts and GIPA.
Corporate IP Institute (CIPI) (October 13-14) The 16th annual event, once again in-person, at the Knowles Conference Center at the Georgia State University College of Law provides corporate IP leaders the opportunity to learn best practices in managing IP.
GIPA invites the residents, universities, and businesses of Georgia to join us as we celebrate IP Month this October by learning about IP and the role it plays in helping move ideas from Head to Hand® in our society.
