In this fourth year of ‘The CLIMB’ career summit, it returns with a hybrid model, taking a deep dive into what it means to reshuffle professionally and empower attendees both in-person and virtually, with the tools and resources needed to redefine their professional success. The Climb is the signature event produced by I Choose The Ladder, a leading career consulting company, that aims to bridge the gap between ambitious Black women who want to climb the corporate ladder, and the corporations that understand the importance of attracting and retaining this group. This year, career summit will be held at the McDonald's Headquarters in Chicago,IL on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 8:00 AM CST - 5:00 PM CST.
Powered by top corporate brands McDonald’s, NIKE, and GCM Grosvenor, the CLIMB career summit is a full-day immersive experience thoughtfully curated for Black Millennials, Xennials, and Gen X professional women focusing on soft skill development through theory and practice. For middle-career women, it will serve as a safe space to share their experiences with the next generation and fellow peers; and quantify their impact. The CLIMB will also address the unique career advancement and personal challenges that Black women face in the workplace and tap into the tools needed to foster and elevate their corporate careers. All attendees will be professionally armed with tangible tools, valuable resources, and a personalized blueprint to launch and place them on the fast-track to corporate career success.
This year, the summit’s theme is “The Great Reshuffle, Redefining The Corporate Dream”. Long gone are the days when Black women are willing to forsake all parts of their lives in pursuit of the corner office. Long before the career-changing impact of COVID-19, women began to reconsider what career success actually meant. In 2020 to present-day, COVID-19 accelerated this examination, and employers and employees-alike are currently redefining what that corporate dream means to them.
“My goal for The CLIMB attendees is to leave the summit at the intersection of Inspiration and Action,” says Watchen Nyanue, Founder of I Choose the Ladder. “I want them to be inspired by the career journeys of the executives they hear from, but I ultimately, want them to have tangible things they can add to their careers to move the needle professionally”.
Creatively curated and produced by like-minded corporate Black women to ‘win’ and achieve success, The CLIMB brings together leading Black female executives housed at the nation’s top companies and organizations, to lead and facilitate engaging and action-oriented workshops and panels. Key topics include: A Different World: Preparing for Leadership (Workshop), The Game: Defining Success (Panel), Good Times: The Balance between Family and Ambition (Panel), Family Matters: Breaking Generational Habits (Workshop), The Jeffersons: Negotiation + Self Advocacy (Workshop), and Different Strokes: New Job V.
