NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mitsui Fudosan America, Inc. is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Katia Santibañez in the Lobby Gallery of 527 Madison Avenue through November 21, 2022. Located at 54th Street and Madison Avenue, the show is open to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Santibañez has been exploring the idea of repetitions and differences while observing forms existing within natural elements, such as trees, snails, leaves and roots. This passion leads her to address the concept of chaos: in politics, climate change and psychology. The result is an almost kaleidoscopic pattern that produces tranquil but vibrant abstract paintings that often hypnotize viewers.
An American born in France, Santibañez studied painting at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She has been in residencies at Yaddo, N.Y.; Casa Wabi, Mexico; The Albers Foundation, Conn.; Sitka, Ore.; and Civitella Ranieri, Italy. Her work is in private and public collections including The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, The Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BnF), The Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, and The Morgan Library & Museum. She is represented in New York City by DC Moore Gallery and in Houston by Texas Gallery.
Slater Traaen, Mitsui Fudosan America Senior Director of Asset Management and Leasing, works with art consultant Jay Grimm of Jay Grimm Art Advisory in selecting artists for the program, which was established in 2014. This is the twenty-third exhibition in 527 Madison's ongoing program showcasing noteworthy emerging and mid-career artists. Santibañez's showing is produced in partnership with DC Moore Gallery.
