The Law Office of David P. Shapiro is once again offering a scholarship for continuing education for those persons who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 17, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- At the Law Office of David P. Shapiro, a San Diego criminal defense law firm, we are once again offering an educational scholarship in support of individuals who have been diagnosed with autism (autism spectrum disorder or ASD). The $1,000 scholarship award will be used to pay a portion of the tuition at a post-secondary school chosen by the successful applicant.
There are numerous challenges faced by people who have ASD. While every person is unique, challenges faced by autistic individuals may include, among others, sleep problems, depression, and in many cases, difficulty communicating with others. These issues continue to affect those with autism in early adulthood and beyond. The end result is that persons with ASD face difficulties in the areas of both education and employment.
Our firm is committed to providing opportunities to those with autism to continue their education beyond the high school level. We have offered an educational scholarship open to those with ASD nearly every year since 2017. It is the hope of the attorneys and staff at the firm that these scholarships provide an incentive for those with ASD to continue their education at a college, a university, graduate school, a junior college, or a trade/vocational school.
The process of applying for the scholarship is simple. It is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with ASD (DSM-V) who wishes to continue their education beyond the high school level.
If you believe you may benefit from the scholarship, or if you have any questions about the scholarship program, you are invited to visit our firm's website which contains the application itself, any eligibility requirements, as well as the firm's privacy policy. The deadline for submission of an application is December 19, 2023. The firm will announce the name of the winner on or before January 9, 2024.
