CNI College showed support and appreciation for nearly 4000 healthcare workers during National Nurses Week by providing lunch at healthcare centers in the region. Additionally, CNI College awarded several scholarships to local nurses to continue their education. The CNI College scholarships awarded were RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and MSN (Master of Science in Nursing).

“We appreciate nurses and all they do in the community and want them to know how much they are valued, not just during Nurses Week, but all year long,” said Colleen Buffington, co-founder of CNI College. “The pressure that is put on nurses, especially the past few years during the global Covid-19 pandemic, is immense. We hope we can show our appreciation to all nurses—each one makes a difference and is essential to our healthcare community. The CNI College leaders and administrators are focused on developing programs to expand nursing education and training to relieve staffing shortages that lead to nurse and healthcare worker burnout.”

Each year, CNI College joins the American Nursing Association in recognition programs throughout the nation to celebrate nurses and their contributions to the community. National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Nightingale was a British nurse, statistician, and social reformer who was the foundational philosopher of modern nursing. She spent her life caring for wounded patients in wards and was known as the “Lady with the Lamp.” She established the first scientific-based nursing school in 1860.
