SAN FRANCISCO, June 21, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Twelve Labs, the video search and understanding company, was selected among hundreds of candidates as one of the World Economic Forum's "Technology Pioneers."
A first-of-its-kind cloud-native suite of APIs that enables comprehensive video search, Twelve Labs' platform makes video content more accessible, meaningful, and useful. The platform views and understands all of the content of a video, including both visual (action, movement, objects, text, etc.) and audio (non-verbal and conversational) context. It then transforms everything about the video into a powerful intermediary data format (vectors), so that when a user types in a search query, the Twelve Labs AI automatically outputs the most relevant scenes across hundreds of thousands of hours of video.
The World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneers are early-stage companies that are at the forefront of new technologies and innovation and are poised to have a significant impact on business and society.
"We're excited to welcome Twelve Labs to our 2023 cohort of Technology Pioneers," said Verena Kuhn, Head of Innovator Communities at the World Economic Forum. "Twelve Labs and its fellow pioneers are at the forefront of innovation and disruption needed to help us solve the world's most pressing issues. We look forward to their contribution to the Forum's content work that brings together public and private sector to tackle these global issues."
As a Technology Pioneer, Twelve Labs CEO and Co-Founder Jae Lee will be invited to engage with the World Economic Forum, working with global leaders to help address key industry and societal issues. Technology Pioneers will also be invited to join Forum events and discussions throughout the year, bringing together leading stakeholders from the public and private sector.
"We are deeply honoured to be recognized as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum," said Lee. "The rate of technologic change is accelerating, largely driven by advances in AI, and the tech landscape is becoming even more complex. We need strong global leadership to establish systems of ethics to ensure that the latest innovations are used for good, to solve societal problems and not contribute to them. We look forward to working with this esteemed group to make a positive impact on the world around us."
This year's Technology Pioneer cohort includes startups from 31 economies, with a third led by a woman chief executive. China has the second highest representation with 12 Technology Pioneers, behind the US with 29 companies.
