30gurus.com, Bibliomotion’s Learning Platform, Welcomes New Instructors
Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 24, 2014 -- 30gurus, a learning platform introduced earlier this year by Boston-based book publisher Bibliomotion, is welcoming new authors and instructors to the platform. Up until this point, the platform was available exclusively to Bibliomotion authors to extend their content “beyond the book.”
“The platform offers a way for our authors, as thought leaders, to connect directly with their followers to explore concepts in greater detail,” says Bibliomotion co-founder and publisher Erika Heilman. “The collaborative learning experiences allow the participants to have direct access to the author, and to other participants as well. We think of it as being like a virtual innovation lab, whereby we bring a group of smart people into ‘a room’ to toss around some great ideas. The results of those conversations change from course to course, depending on who shows up and the dialogue that occurs.”
The 30gurus technology was originally introduced as an app exclusively for the iPad. It is now also available as a browser-based app making courses accessible on all tablets as well as laptops and PCs. “We see this development as critical for opening up the enterprise market, which our authors service through consulting work and speaking engagements, often with the book wrapped into those. Offering a course is just another valuable way of delivering the content,” says Jill Friedlander, co-founder and president of Bibliomotion. “And the ability for collaboration to take place within the app is a unique feature of this technology.”
Unlike other learning platforms that require courses to be produced by the instructor, the 30gurus team works with instructors to design and create a course in a matter of weeks, which is then hosted on the site. 30gurus has full e-commerce capabilities so that customers can buy and take courses directly from the site; or private courses can be arranged by special invitation through the site’s enterprise services. Courses range from $39 to $99 for a one-hour class depending on the content area and author’s expertise.
Since launch, the courses have been particularly popular with the parenting set. “Prior to 30gurus, my services were limited to book sales, coaching and live classes,” says parent educator and author of Duct Tape Parenting, Vicki Hoefle. “These courses give me the opportunity to expand my reach and touch the lives of people all over the world in an affordable and efficient manner. The self-paced virtual nature of these courses allows everyone to interact and engage in meaningful discussion, which adds to the learning and value.”
By opening up the platform to other business book authors, 30gurus looks to amass courses for the professional set as well. “Increasingly, authors in the business space are seeing the technology as a natural way to scale their content and business offerings,” Heilman adds. “We see it as a more modern version of the webinar but with greater flexibility since participants can access courses on their own schedule, a big plus for the busy professional on the go.”
About Bibliomotion:
Bibliomotion is a book publishing house designed for the new publishing landscape. While many publishers work to retrofit old processes for new realities, Bibliomotion was founded by book-industry veterans who believe the best approach is a fresh one – one that focuses on empowering authors and serving readers above all else. Moving away from the top-down model that has dominated the publishing process for years, we give each member of the team – including the author – a seat at the table from the very beginning and in doing so, work side-by-side to launch and sell the best content possible, making it available in a variety of forms. http://www.bibliomotion.com
