3D Augmented Reality Book by Experience Real History™ Brings Battle of the Alamo to Life in Exciting New Way
The Battle of the Alamo, A 3D Interactive Adventure in Augmented Reality is a living textbook where users see and hear soldiers as well as the families of San Antonio as the tragic saga unfolds.
SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- What could happen if a history book came to life? Students from Lamar Elementary School in San Antonio, Texas discovered the answer to that question at the Witte Museum. Fourth graders who had been studying The Battle of the Alamo experienced cannons blazing, David Crockett walking the grounds and General Cos leading men to overrun the old Spanish mission.
This vivid experience was made possible through a new book, The Battle of the Alamo, A 3D Interactive Adventure in Augmented Reality, which works in conjunction with an augmented reality app. This book is the newest offering from Experience Real History™, an award-winning tech company based in San Antonio that utilizes mixed reality experiences. It is a compelling narrative that combines historical scholarship with art and technology.
"We are so pleased to debut real history as it emerges from a book," said Marise McDermott, President and CEO of the Witte Museum. "We treasure the Witte Museum's partnership with Experience Real History, which shares our vision to shape the future of education. The Battle of the Alamo, A 3D Interactive Adventure in Augmented Reality is a living textbook where users see and hear soldiers as well as the families of San Antonio as the tragic saga unfolds. These wonderful students from Lamar Elementary were taken beyond a book today. They stepped into an experience of history through art and technology. We look forward to expanding 3D Interactive Technology in all we do at the Witte Museum."
The stunning coffee table book is a portable experience that has rebuilt the Alamo as it looked in 1836. This is an important feat as only 20% of the original Alamo remains. Left-side pages of the book highlight what was happening during the time of the Texas Revolution, intriguing facts like what people at The Alamo slept on, how Davy Crockett's rifle got its name, and interesting details about the layout of The Alamo and what happened during the battle. Brilliant imagery complements this on right-side pages, queuing augmented reality experiences. Narration that pulls users in as though it was a movie script along with encompassing sounds of battle, mingle with 360-degree visuals that allow users to watch this pivotal time in history unfold. Included are 21 dynamic scenes with animated, large-scale action that can be watched over and over again from different viewpoints to discover new facets of the story.
"We're at the forefront of creating how history is shared for future generations," said Michael McGar, President of Experience Real History™. "Partnering with the Witte Museum to do this is an honor. Marise's dedication to technology and storytelling aligns perfectly with what we are creating at Experience Real History™. Utilizing technology to bring history to life is especially important in capturing the attention of younger audiences and appealing to diverse learning styles."
The Battle of the Alamo, A 3D Interactive Adventure in Augmented Reality is available to the public at the Witte Museum's Bolner Family Museum Store for $38.99. It is also available at The Twig Book Store, The San Antonio Visitor Information Center and through Amazon.
