New Article Highlights A Forever Recovery’s Plans to Stem & Stop Heroin Addiction in Monroe, MI
Battle Creek, MI (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- A new article published yesterday on MonroeNews.com is highlighting A Forever Recovery’s plans to help stem and stop Monroe, Michigan’s heroin epidemic by opening a state-of-the-art treatment facility that would eventually serve more than 100 clients at a time, and strive to help them live a healthy, happy and sober life.
The potential facility, which was toured by A Forever Recovery’s founder and CEO Per Wickstrom, was formerly known as the Boysville Center and housed young criminal offenders. Today the two-story, 41,000 square foot structure on 56 acres sits vacant, and with the right improvements -- which from initial accounts appear to be more cosmetic in nature -- could be an ideal and affordable place to serve clients in and around Monroe, which currently has the highest heroin addiction per capita rate in the state.
“When we evaluate potential new facility sites, we look beyond the building itself, and pay attention to the surrounding area,” commented Per Wickstrom, who was joined on the tour by community leaders that included former NFLers Sean Jordan and Herman Moore, and Monroe County Substance Abuse Coalition’s April Demers. “This location is ideal for us, because the natural surroundings help create a therapeutic and calming environment, which is an important part of the overall road to recovery.”
Added Per Wickstrom: “We need to give individuals and families the practical and expert-led treatment and support they need -- not by forcing them to go to Detroit, Flint or some other city -- but right here in Monroe. Admittedly, the challenges facing Monroe are big and can seem overwhelming, but with determination and commitment, together we can turn the corner, make a difference, and turn a devastating tale into an inspiring success story that will be felt across Michigan, around the country, and across the world!”
