Lane End Conference Centre Host Clinical Network Launch Event on Diabetes
(PRWEB UK) 22 March 2014 -- Lane End Conference Centre, Buckinghamshire hosted Oxford Academic Health Science Network’s (Oxford AHSN) launch event on Diabetes at the end of February.
The one-day networking event brought together medical researchers, clinicians, industry representatives and NHS Managers from the Oxford AHSN region (Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire), with the main purpose of improving care for people living with diabetes.
The training venue at Lane End provided the ideal setting for the programme - which included presentations and networking elements - offering organisers exclusive use of its Pavilion building.
The largest of five self-contained conference venues at the 26-acre site, The Pavilion provided 100 delegates with a private, distraction-free work space for the duration.
The morning session comprised presentations by Oxford AHSN’s core team outlining their objectives and current work streams.
Licensed by NHS England, Oxford AHSN is undertaking several major projects, from tackling young adult diabetes, to looking at variations in patients’ outcomes.
Following the presentations, delegates decamped to The Pavilion’s break-out rooms to discuss the projects and how they can become involved before reporting back to the group.
After a networking lunch in Lane End’s newly refurbished dining room, delegates reconvened for a presentation on the importance of engaging patients and the public on diabetes.
For the closing session, delegates were invited to discuss and put forward ideas for future projects.
Main organiser, Samantha Pearce, said: “I was very impressed with the level of service and attention to detail provided.
“In particular, Lane End’s Conference and Events Executive Hannah Field was excellent. From our initial enquiry, right through to the day of our event, she was very thorough and took care of all our needs.
“During the event we were looked after by a dedicated co-ordinator who could not have been more friendly or helpful.”
Lane End Sales and Marketing Manager, Heni Fourie, said: “It was a pleasure to hold Oxford AHSN’s first Diabetes Clinical Network at Lane End.
“Our facilities and central location was ideal for the event and we look forward to seeing them again in the future.”
