Apple Fest 5K and 10K Hosted by Fort Dodge Noon Rotary Will Be Held September 27, 2015 in Fort Dodge, Iowa
Fort Dodge, Iowa (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- Each year the two local Rotary Clubs join in with Unity Point / Trinity Regional Medical Center and Iowa Central Community College to host the Apple Fest 5K / 10K. In its 7th year, this fund raising event brings in hundreds of runners and walkers to enjoy the scenic new trail system in the community.
Funds raised during the event are shared with Fort Dodge Noon Rotary, Fort Dodge Daybreak Rotary, Unity Point / Trinity Regional Medical Center and Iowa Central Community College. The Rotary Clubs and Iowa Central Community College use their proceeds for educational and scholarship programs in the community. Unity Point / Trinity Regional Medical Center use the proceeds for various health education programs in the community and schools.
The route for the event will use the new trail system in the community and provides the walkers and runners a very scenic event. The route and registration can be viewed on the website for the event at http://www.fdapplefest.com. Cost is $30.00 per walker or runner. Registrations can be made online through Active or by mailing your application and $30.00 to Fort Dodge Rotary, P.O. Box 143, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
Children are encouraged to walk as well or participate in a fun run around the Historic Square. All activities will start at 9:00 am with check in starting at 7:30 am.
"Each year we have an excellent turnout for this event. With the new trail system, our walkers and runners have commented how much fun it is to enjoy the scenic route at the same time," says Steve Hoesel, Apple Fest 5K/10K Committee Member.
