Membership & Fundraising Performance Survey Results Released by ASI
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) April 12, 2017 -- Advanced Solutions International (ASI), a leading global provider of software and services for associations and not-for-profits, released its third annual Global Benchmark Reports on Membership Performance and Fundraising Performance today. Conducted in the latter part of 2016, the two reports explore the foremost challenges, goals and opportunities not-for-profits are currently facing to both attract new members/donors and to maintain their existing bases. A total of 386 membership executives and 243 fundraising executives across the US, Canada, Asia-Pacific and Europe/Middle East/India/Africa (EMEIA) participated in the survey.
The surveys consisted of 24 questions spanning five primary interest areas: demographics, performance, technology, website/mobile/social, and goals. ASI distributed the questionnaires via email to senior-level executives at organizations of all sizes and sectors around the world.
The third annual survey reports uncover the latest trends in operational performance new member/donor acquisition strategies, engagement plans and measurement, technology investments, website updates, and overall operational performance improvement. They also reveal the one strategy that helped numerous survey respondents increase renewals, event attendance, web traffic and non-dues revenue but is not currently being used by most not-for-profits.
Membership Performance
For three consecutive years, membership executives reported they are most challenged by an inability to accurately measure member engagement and inadequate reporting tools. While their top goals include increasing member retention and engagement, just 20% of respondents reported they have a formal engagement plan (down significantly from 28% in 2016.) Other findings include:
• 34% of Respondents Reported a 90+% Retention Rate.
• 51% saw a rise in their membership base (down from 55% in 2016)
• 35% saw increases in member engagement
Fundraising Performance
For the first time in the survey’s three-year history, fundraising professionals ranked donor retention as a higher priority than new donor acquisitions. Increasing retention is linked to increasing donor engagement yet only 30% of survey respondents reported they have a formal plan to measure their engagement efforts. Additional findings include:
• 54% reported fundraising levels had increased (compared to 51% in 2016)
• Only 46% reported that member engagement increased (compared to 49% in 2016)
• More than half (52%) said retention was either stagnant or had decreased
The overall tone of the 2017 surveys was very hopeful: 70% of all membership and fundraising participants are confident or extremely confident about their growth and sustainability in the next 5 years.
