AWE is dedicated to not only providing solutions for early education, but to also enabling and supporting idea sharing, discussion, and community for this crucial educational period.
Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) November 21, 2013
AWE, a developer of digital learning products for the PreK-3 market, has launched a professional learning community around PreK-3 Digital Learning on edWeb.net, a professional learning and social network for educators. The community is being announced at the NAEYC Conference (National Association for the Education of Young Children) in Washington, DC, this week.
The PreK-3 Digital Learning community provides a place where early childhood educators can learn about and discuss digital learning tools and media for students in Pre-Kindergarten to grade three. The community will host a series of complimentary webinars and online discussions for educators who seek to learn about the appropriate use of technology and who are looking for practical tools and resources to use in the classroom.
The inaugural webinar will be presented by Dr. Chip Donohue. Dr. Donohue is the Dean of Distance Learning and Continuing Education at the Erikson Institute, the Director of the TEC Center, and is also a senior fellow at the Fred Rogers Center. The kick-off event will be November 26 at 3:00 PM ET. Dr. Donohue will identify common concerns about young children and technology and highlight the benefits when educators select, use and integrate technology in ways that support healthy development and early learning.
“AWE is proud to support an edWeb community for teachers, administrators, and others that play a role in educating our youngest citizens. PreK-3 is such a critical time in a person’s life. It can really dictate the type of path they take going forward. This is why AWE is dedicated to not only providing solutions for early education, but to also enabling and supporting idea sharing, discussion, and community for this crucial educational period,” said Karl Thornton, President and CEO of AWE.
Lisa Schmucki, the Founder and CEO, edWeb.net added, “This will be edWeb’s first professional learning community specifically for educators involved in early learning. We have been looking for the right partner to expand our programs to teachers working with the youngest students. It is so important for us to provide professional learning and support for these educators. We are delighted to launch this initiative with AWE.”
Educators can join the free PreK-3 Digital Learning community on edWeb to stay informed about upcoming webinars, join in on discussions with peers and mentors, and gain access to valuable resources.
