Author Alexander Rassogianis Pens Memoir of Summers in Michigan
Berwyn, IL (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 -- Author Alexander Rassogianis pays tribute to his childhood and Greek heritage in his new memoir, “Return to Glenlord: Memories of Michigan Summers” (published by iUniverse), an homage to his family and friends who shared their summers together.
“The book includes a Greek community from Chicago which transported itself every summer to Berrien County, Mich.,” writes Rassogianis. “It was a community within a community.”
Rassogianis and his family spent their summers in Michigan during the 1950’s and ‘60s. The book chronicles the lost era of Michigan resorts, which no longer exist, and the adventures of Rassogianis and his three friends as they visit amusement parks and outdoor theatres. Rassogianis reminisces about his excursions to Glenlord Beach and how he fell in love six times before the age of 12.
An excerpt from “Return to Glenlord”:
“I never thought about the future during those years. I never pictured myself as being grown-up. To think that someday I would be my father’s age never entered my mind. He was ‘old,’ I was young, and that’s all there was to it! I believed that my summers with my friends Alkie, Angelo, and Jimmy would never end.”
Through his book, Rassogianis hopes to stir up feelings of nostalgia and fond memories of childhood in his readers. “I believe that most of us enjoy a nostalgic look back to our youth when we were carefree, I thought it would last forever.” More information can be found at http://www.alexanderrassogianis.com.
