Annelè Jeanette Shaw Announces Release of ‘The War YO-YO Kid’
Lake San Marcos, CA (PRWEB) April 08, 2014 -- In “The War YO-YO Kid: A Memoir” (published by Trafford Publishing), author Annelé Jeanette Shaw’s new book, readers are bounced from one country to another as they follow one war-displaced child trying to find her way.
“Imagine you are a very young child who is being separated from your family and there is nothing you can do about it,” says Shaw. “Just try to imagine how scared you would be now, throw in three wars.”
At a young age, Shaw found herself confused and upset. Not because she did not get a new, shiny toy, but because she was moved from her family and home to a new, foreign country by the government. As the Russian-Finnish war raged in her home country, she was safe, but this safety meant a new culture, a culture an 18-month-old child could not understand.
What readers are saying about “The War YO-YO Kid”:
“A very interesting true story about a very young child’s survival during the ugly and devastating Finnish-Russian wars, when a lot of families were scattered and separated and the Finnish Government decided to send the youngest children out of the Country for protection. Jeanette was one of those children, who were sent away from her own family to strange and unfamiliar people in Sweden. She was only one year old. At age three she was sent away again. This time she was sent to Denmark and once again had to learn a different language and different customs. However in spite of a bad beginning in life Jeanette managed to turn this book into an entertaining and lovable story due to her positive attitude and great sense of humor.”
