Arts Schools Network Announces Speakers for National Conference
Key West, Florida (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- At the ASN National Conference in Denver, speakers will address vital arts education issues, including management, advocacy, careers, universal access to the arts, fundraising, and more.
On Thursday, October 23, Ginger White Brunetti, Deputy Director of Denver Arts and Venues, will deliver the keynote address.
Arts & Venues is the Denver agency responsible for publicly owned venues, including Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center, Denver Coliseum and McNichols Civic Center Building, as well as cultural affairs and events such as Denver Public Art program, Create Denver economic development initiative, and the Five Points Jazz Festival.
White Brunetti has over 15 years of experience in public and nonprofit sectors. Through her vast experience, she has effectively positioned the cultural sector as a significant contributor to Denver’s economic vitality, livability, placemaking and brand.
Betty Siegel, Esq., will address the issue of access to arts and arts education for all students in "Why You Should Be Thinking about Students with Disabilities All of the Time," on Friday, October 24. Siegel is Director of VSA and Accessibility, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
"It's so exciting that ASN recognizes and puts their resources towards embracing arts education for all students," Siegel said. "We need to ensure K-12 access to arts education, including in-school and after-school programming. We must make sure all students have the opportunity to really engage in a meaningful and thoughtful way. Siegel has specialized in arts and disability issues for over 30 years starting at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. and now as Director of VSA and Accessibility at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she oversees national and international disability, arts and education programs.
Bret Egan, President, DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland, will present "The Cycle: Sustaining Excellence in a Complex Environment," on Friday, October 24.
Egan will argue that sustained organizational excellence requires a cycle of integrated action: superior programming, aggressive marketing, building a “family” of supporters, and converting the goodwill of those supporters into financial (and other) resources. Egan leads the Institute of Arts Management's team of consultants and teachers in projects on six continents, supporting organizations and executives in every arts industry on a range of short- and long-term concerns, including strategic planning, artistic planning, marketing, human resource development, and fundraising.
