BMA Management Names Laurena Carter Administrator of St. Anthony of Lansing
Bradley, Illinois (PRWEB) August 17, 2013 -- Laurena Carter, of Chicago, has been named Administrator at St. Anthony of Lansing, a BMA affordable assisted living community recently developed in southern Cook County.
The community, which is located at 3025 Spring Lake Drive in Lansing, Illinois, serves low-income seniors who need some help to maintain their independence.
“I’m very excited for this level of care to be added to the Lansing community,” Laurena said. “Our staff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be a great asset to St. Anthony residents and their families.”
The residents who move into the community are coming from diverse living situations. Some residents have never lived on their own. Others decided it was time to downsize and seek some assistance.
“Each resident has a unique set of experiences, and we are happy to provide them with a place to call home and a team that is happy to help them achieve the quality of life they deserve,” Laurena said.
Before joining St. Anthony, Laurena oversaw Bethel New Life’s Senior Services Division in Chicago and served as the administrator at HCR-Manor Care Services in Indiana. She also has experience in pharmaceutical sales and marketing for nursing and rehabilitation facilities.
Carter earned her bachelor’s degree in health administration from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in business and health administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
She holds professional nursing home administrator licenses in several states, including Illinois, Indiana, Georgia and Kentucky.
The St. Anthony of Lansing assisted living community was developed on more than four acres of property on the east side of Chicago Ave., north of 178th St., in Lansing, Illinois. The community will open later this month. Reservations are being accepted.
"We will be providing older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Carter.
The community will combine residential apartment-home living with the availability of personal assistance, help with medications, and a variety of convenience and support services, such as meals, housekeeping and laundry.
Residents will live in private apartments that they will furnish and decorate to their tastes. Each of the apartments will feature a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, and emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants, working under the direction of a licensed nurse, will be on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"Residents also will benefit from all of the opportunities that will be available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in activities and special programs," says Carter.
St. Anthony's will be certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program, which emphasizes personal choice, dignity, privacy and individuality.
The affordable assisted living community will be managed by BMA Management, Ltd., of Bradley, Illinois.
