Author Solutions, LLC, a Penguin Random House company and the world leader in supported self-publishing services, is highlighting iUniverse author Anne Nordholm’s book “We Reap What We Sow,” in its Real Authors Real Impact campaign. The title is the 225,000th self-published through an Author Solutions imprint.
Nordholm, a constructivist learning coach, who has served as a university faculty member and taught at all grade levels, said one of the groups she’s written the book for are teachers struggling to keep their passion alive. These professionals, Nordholm said, view teaching as an integral part of their own personal journey and can’t afford the spark or investment in their life’s work.
“It may seem ‘old school,’ but teachers are called to a lifelong profession that reflects love of learning and for life itself,” said Nordholm. “It is often difficult to maintain the level of enthusiasm and passion required in today’s classrooms.”
In the book, she examines changing educational approaches, delves into questions about different pedagogical approaches and attempts to answer the awkward question about why learners are disengaging from the classroom. Nordholm advocates for alternative learning communities that integrate everyday life into the school experience.
“This book is for people who believe education is a civil right, a matter of equity and justice,” Nordholm added. “In that light, the only kind of school structure that makes sense for liberating learners toward full participation is the development of democratic learning communities. Learning communities are those places where there is no distinction between school life and real life.”
