Wendy Cullum, Author of “Project Self-Esteem,” Featured in Author Solutions’ Real Authors, Real Impact Campaign
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (PRWEB) September 19, 2014 -- Author Solutions, LLC, a Penguin Random House company and the world leader in supported self-publishing services, is highlighting WestBow Press author Wendy Cullum through its Real Authors, Real Impact campaign.
Cullum based the book on her Project Self-Esteem program, which she has shared with students for more than a dozen years. The central theme of both the program and the book is that children can combat bullying, shyness and depression through building higher self-esteem.
Cullum’s motivation is simple:
“It is not about my success or about the money; it is about receiving a message from a student after a lesson that it has touched their heart and motivated them to change for the better,” Cullum commented. “Recently a student wrote a letter thanking me for teaching him about the Golden Rule, as well as for helping him learn to have respect for himself and others.”
Cullum hopes the book will influence not only students but how parents teach their children and how teachers listen to what is going on around them—in the background. She believes that if we can teach our children to have good self-esteem, life will be better for all.
“The ultimate goal is to have students understand that it is they themselves who determine their self worth,” Cullum added. “Anyone can tell them that they are stupid, dumb or ugly, but the child doesn’t have to actually believe it.”
