Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 13, 2014

AutoHistoryData.com has been launched to give people access to public records about the history of used cars, the company announced yesterday.

“The used car industry is notorious for taking advantage of consumers,” John Roberts, an AutoHistoryData.com spokesman said. “What we want to do is level the playing field and help give consumers a chance to know as much about a used car as the seller does before they decide whether or not to buy it.”

Consumers can type the VIN of any car into the search service, pay a small fee, and get access to the estimated value of the vehicle, if it has been in a major accident, has title brands, been declared flood damaged or is listed as a stolen vehicle, Roberts said.

“Customers can even get a mileage estimate and find out if it was ever part of a fleet service,” Roberts said. “There is a wealth of information out there that we can put into a used car report.”

AutoHistoryData.com will also publish articles related to the used car industry for consumer consumption, he said.

“The overall goal here is to make sure that consumers don't get ripped off by shady used car dealers,” he said. “The more they know about a given vehicle, the better the chances are that they'll get a good deal.”
