Author B. J. Bryan was two months shy of her seventh birthday when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, marking the beginning of America’s involvement in World War 2, the largest conflict in human history. This violent period of time also saw the emergence of air power’s dominance in the battlefield, with bombers threatening to lay waste to whole cities, and fighter planes rushing to the defense of entire nations. “Escape with a Silent Roar,” Bryan’s new book, tells the story of three brave men who piloted some of these aircraft in the skies over Europe.
“Escape with a Silent Roar” is the heroic trilogy of three World War II pilots. Each story is different, yet all are tales of bravery in the heat of air combat, amidst skies strewn with flak and cannon fire, whilst fighters duel above the clouds and bombers unleash their payloads on the hapless populaces beneath them. Bryan’s tales are filled with emotion and intrigue, and are told straight from the men who lived it. As they tell their stories, readers will feel everything they did, experience everything they experienced as the young fighting men who helped keep freedom alive in the cockpits of their agile aircraft – including the iconic P-38 Lightning.
Bryan’s work is a collection of exhilarating true stories from a pivotal period of history, tales of sacrifice, bravery and combat in contested airspace, battles between ace fighter pilots, who were the knights of the sky during their time.
