BLULOK® is much more than a lock-shaped tech novelty. It is a tried and tested U-lock that stops bike thieves in their tracks.

A report published last year by the International Journal of Sustainable Transportation found that roughly half of all active cyclists are likely to have a bike stolen at some point in their riding lives.
For those not willing to leave their bike to the toss of a coin, BLULOK® is the strongest Bluetooth alarmed U-lock for bicycles. No keyless entry, no solar panels, no satellite dishes. BLULOK® is the first lock to combine a tested, steel high-security lock with an accelerometer-triggered 120dB alarm plus alerts and performance functions controlled via a smartphone app.
"Strength and road-tested connectivity" are what sets BLULOK® apart from the growing number of new entrants to the smart lock market, says Tristan Mullane, innovator of BLULOK®. Based on a platform tested for picking, sawing, pull test, ice-sprays, brute force attack and more, he says, the innovative and effective high-security BLULOK® is "more than a lock-shaped tech novelty. It is a tried and tested U-lock that stops bike thieves in their tracks."
BLULOK® addresses the unique challenges of incorporating Bluetooth-ready lock functionality to the conditions of protecting bicycles out in the wild. A Kickstarter campaign is currently underway to raise $50,000 to fund the final development stages of the BLULOK® project. The lock design build quality and 120dB motion-sensitive alarm, Bluetooth-enabled app and module are at prototype and ready to tool for its first production run.
The proof-of-concept BLULOK® prototype combines tried and tested steel hardware and innovative, reliable software. A patented design seamlessly combines a lock with Bluetooth-controlled alarm and tracking device in a single portable security device. The removable Bluetooth module contains the battery, sensors, Bluetooth module and all electronic parts -- replaceable, upgradeable and robust.
Because all sophisticated electronics aside – say, when the battery dies – the BLULOK®'s first line of defence is an extraordinarily strong steel lock, engineered and built to withstand real world attack.
Note that “Keyless entry” is not in BLULOK®'s feature set. The kind of wear and tear a lock takes in daily use season in season out is simply not suited to housing sensitive components that lock or unlock with a click of a smartphone button. Anyone making these claims must know that this is not part of a realistic long-term solution for locking a bicycle.
BLULOK® anticipate shipping time for first units to our backers in December 2015.
